Opportunity Description
This research position is part of a team that gathers materials on Nebraska Holocaust survivors and US Servicemen who liberated Nazi camps during WWII. This position requires work at the computer - research, training in the technology programs required with minor coding (no prior experience required), learning to transcribe content, listening to testimony, scanning, and some writing. We look for students with a passion to know more history and contribute to this education web portal.

Facutly Advisor Mentoring Philosophy
Our project provides opportunities for students to research individuals who experienced the Holocaust and later settled in Nebraska and servicemen who were liberators of Nazi camps both in person and remotely. We train students to process digitized artifacts, work on transcription for testimonies, and in some cases, arrange for interaction with families who have historical holdings. Project coordinators assist students on their journey to grapple with challenging materials through digital tools, emphasizing that this history has relevance to present-day situations. As a team of students, faculty, and staff from the Center for Digital Resources in the Humanities, our students enjoy flexible, cross-disciplinary experiences while connecting to our work.
